Totum Pharmacien — the Express reflex
Totum Pharmacien is the patient app from French pharmacy group Totum: send prescriptions by photo, browse the product catalog, pick up in 2 hours or get home delivery, and access personalized health tips. Everything to skip the line and keep the human touch.
01The context
Totum Pharmacien is the long-running patient app from Totum, a cooperative of independent French pharmacists. Its role: digitize the relationship between a patient and their neighborhood pharmacy, without ever diluting the quality of advice.
The most-used feature is prescription handling. The patient snaps a photo of their prescription, shares it with their regular pharmacy, and gets a confirmation as soon as the pharmacy has taken it in. No more waiting at the counter, no more two trips: come by when it's ready, or get it delivered.
02The product
The second pillar is the product catalog. Each pharmacy in the network exposes its own catalog — parapharmacy products, medical devices, Totum group's exclusive lines (HPI etc.) — with real prices, local promotions, and live stock availability. Add to cart, pay online, and choose how you want it delivered.
The third pillar is the network map. Every Totum pharmacy is geolocated across France, with detailed cards. A traveling patient can temporarily switch to a local pharmacy while keeping their history intact.
03The outcome
The fourth pillar is health tips: search by topic, themed articles, seasonal advice. The app always hands off to a real pharmacist for personalized advice — never to an automated diagnosis engine.
On the technical side, the app evolved over several years: modular architecture, permanent sync with in-pharmacy checkout and stock systems, online payments, real-time order tracking. Delivered as lead mobile developer at Totum, working directly with the product team and network pharmacists.
